It’s nearly impossible to overstate just how amazing of a fighter Nong-O truly is. But today, we take a closer look at the reasons why Nong-O is considered one of the greatest of all time and why learning from him is such a unique opportunity.

1) Power and Precision

Nong-O currently owns a 262-54-1 professional Muay Thai Record. He is a 4-time Lumpinee Stadium Champion, a Rajadamnern Stadium Champion, and a 2-time Thailand National Champion. He is also a 3-time “Fighter of the Year” awardee, and one of the best pound-for-pound Muay Thai fighters in the world today.

He has faced fellow legends like Saenchai PKSaenchaiMuayThaiGym, Singdam Kiatmookao, Petchboonchu FA Group, Pakorn Sakyothin, Kongsak Sitboonmee, Sam-A Gaiyanghadao, Sagetdao Petpayathai and many more in the ring. From brawlers, to counter strikers, to aggressive knee fighters, Nong-O has a depth of understanding of how to face all sorts of fighting styles.

As a Muay Thai fighter, it’s important to possess a wide range of weapons to work with, and Nong-O is among the best to ever use all of the ‘Art of Eight Limbs’ to defeat his foes in the ring.

Featuring thunderous body kicks, a debilitating right hand, fluid strategy and execution, Nong-O has a wide range of techniques. The 34-year-old veteran boasts of a vast repertoire of weapons for any situation he faces.

Using his cerebral, calculating style, Nong-O doesn’t waste any movements. Each movement serves a purpose. Each attack is meaningful. He can break down any situation in the ring with his unparalleled fight intelligence, and dismantle any style of opponent.

Nong-O’s elite skill and technique, unique fight strategies and ring tactics all work together seamlessly to make up his distinct style, and he’s defeated some of Muay Thai’s absolute best throughout the years.

Now, as an instructor at Evolve MMA, Nong-O has also started to teach this versatile style. He teaches his students to not rely too heavily on any single technique but rather train to become more well-rounded.

2) Veteran Experience

With over 300 professional fights on his record, Nong-O is a Muay Thai veteran who has seen and experienced every scenario in the ring.

Extreme poverty led him to become a fighter as a child, to help his parents cope with financial hardship. He began training Muay Thai as a young boy in the quiet village of Sakon Nakhon in northeastern Thailand.

At the tender age of 9, Nong-O had his first fight. By 15, he competed at the prestigious Rajadamnern Stadium for the very first time. Nong-O defeated Sipaenoi S.Sisompong by decision and soon became a star.

Now at age 34, over a decade later, Nong-O is one of the most well-respected veteran fighters actively competing. His wealth of experience is invaluable to his success.

In 2015, Nong-O decided he wanted to share that talent and knowledge he had amassed for years with the next generation of fighters. He moved to Singapore to work at Evolve MMA as a Muay Thai instructor.

However, the ring beckoned once again, and he returned to fighting to continue his legacy. He found himself as one of the pioneers of ONE Super Series, the all-striking league under the ONE Championship banner.

In 2019, Nong-O defeated Han Zi Hao by unanimous decision to be crowned the inaugural ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion. He has since defended the world title four times, beating Hiroaki Suzuki and Brice Delval by decision, while knocking out Thai compatriots Saemapetch Fairtex and Rodlek P.K.Saenchai Muaythaigym.

Today, he’s arguably the most dominant ONE Super Series world champion on the roster.

3) The Mind of a Fighter

Nong-O is one of the most intelligent Muay Thai fighters ever. Within the mind of Nong-O is an invaluable insight into how a fighter thinks and processes information. The way he can decipher an opponent’s style mid-fight is an important skill to have as a fighter.

The inner workings of this Muay Thai legend’s mind are intricate. Nong-O’s thought process is dynamic, and he has an answer for every situation he’s faced within the ring. This is perhaps the most difficult part about facing Nong-O — his ability to make reads and capitalize on them.

Nong-O understands when to unleash his offense, and when to defend. He has the distinct ability to recognize signs and clues within a fight, including when and how to counter, when to initiate a clinch, and when to move in for the finish. Nong-O is incredibly efficient with his techniques, and he knows how to use his strengths to his advantage.

As an instructor, Nong-O tries to pass this on to his students. He teaches his students to be able to think for themselves and solve problems during sparring and competition.
