Being a defensive fighter in a Muay Thai fight is extremely important. In most fights, the fighter with the best composure, better stance, defense and effective counters wins the fight, compared to a fighter who attacks frequently but has relatively poor defense and is often in a poor stance. It is essential to counter without always being defensive. Fighters must also be able to use counters against most, if not all, attacks to emerge victorious.

Proper stance and body movement are key to staying balanced so you can defend against attacks efficiently. In this chapter, we will cover the various Muay Thai stances, weight distribution and techniques for efficient body movements. Common mistakes will be highlighted.
